On paper, he was doing everything right. Busy as anything. But when I asked him what his quote conversion rate was, he went quiet. Not because he did not want to tell me. He genuinely did not know. When you think of breadcrumbs, your mind might jump to Hansel and Gretel, leaving a trail to find their way home. In that story, the crumbs are a lifeline. But in business (and life), leaving breadcrumbs behind is anything but helpful. I’m not talking about deception or hiding your tracks. I’m talking about the small, unfinished tasks and half-completed jobs we leave scattered through our businesses; the little things that never get wrapped up, tidied, or closed out properly.
